All Sections. About Us. B2B Publishing. Business Visionaries. Ash heads up to the cabin, although, in this movie, his only companion is Linda played here by Denise Bixler. The two discover the Necronomicon, and, in no time, Linda is a zombie and Ash is forced to chop her up to save himself.

Before long, Ash is possessed, but he manages to fight off the demonic influence. Predictably, these characters are dispatched one-by-one, leaving Ash as the last one standing. The ending of Evil Dead II leads directly into Army of Darkness , although numerous details were changed when the third film was released. While both movies contain elements of satire, the first is much more of a straightforward horror endeavor than its sequel.

Evil Dead II raises the stakes by introducing outright slapstick and one-liners into the mix. Consequently, the "scare level" of the movie drops a notch.

It is still possible to be unsettled by Evil Dead II , but far less likely than by its predecessor. Bruce Campell suffers physical damage that would have killed a person many times but within seconds, he's back to normal.

Campell, by the way, must have set the all-time record for making rubber-faced wild faces in a movie, more than Jim Carrey. However, this movie certainly isn't one to be scrutinized for realism. You have to look at it, with all the gory scenes and shocking violence as not much more than just tongue-in-cheek satire on horror movies.

It's great fun. FAQ Is this film a remake or a sequel? Why does Ash go back to the cabin in the begining? When the group first reaches the cabin, how do they manage to rush Ash without being seen? A very good movie but three of the characters are given very little development. Great film, masterpiece of a remake. Judging this as a remake, it's a masterpiece. Judging this as a film on its own, it's still great.

The cinematography and directing is terrific; both create a great sense of dread and there are several tropes that are subverted, mostly during the final act. Speaking of which, the last 25 minutes or so were scary as hell and usually excessive and overt gore annoys me and comes off as cheap, but here it balanced the cartoonishness and the graphic nature so it didn't come off as distracting and ending up being fun.

Also, thank God for practical effects. The makeup and effects looked terrific and were all so convincing, infinitely better than CG crap. The main problem was what seems to be the issue with so many horror films: really weak characters.

Only the main girl was worth routing for, and arguably the blonde guy that looked like Kurt Cobain. There was a blonde girl that was completely expendable. There's a huge surprise for fans of the series! Teen, 15 years old Written by Khoi July 15, Good but gory Mia is a positive role model. This movie is very gory. The gore is above what I was expected.
