Keurig is owned by the Green Mountain Coffee Roasters. The brand was created in the s as a way to provide single servings of coffee for office use. The company has since invested its money on the brand until they have successfully bought it in The brand initially focused on drip coffee but has expanded its patented K-Cup machines to include cider, hot chocolate, and lemonade. The brand continued to become popular as an office coffee solution over the years.
You will often see Keurig brewing machines in many offices, making it one of the biggest names in the industry. Tassimo brewing machines first fit the stores in in France. The brand has since expanded worldwide. Kraft Foods own the brand, but the machines were manufactured by Bosch.
Keurig focused on providing single-serve coffee drips, but Tassimo wanted to make espresso beverages like cappuccinos, lattes, and milk. Users are instructed how much brewing time, water, and heat to use for every cup. Some people think that the T-Discs had powdered milk in them, but the truth is that the brand uses ultra-high-temperature milk. This is a kind of ultra-pasteurization method.
Tassimo and Keurig offer several coffee maker models. This portion will discuss their similarities and differences. It is recommended that you note the crucial details to help you find the right brand and model for your daily caffeine fix.
Both brands taste great, but it will still depend on individual preferences. The best way to see which matches your taste is to visit the coffee shops that provide these brands. Last resort is the latest one out, that I have not yet tried and it is "preformed pod and cover" which also fit the pod holster. Why the "leader" of this board is saying "don't use them" or "they don't work" has not expended enough effort to find out. I have not used commercial pods that contain coffee but they should work.
The key to the "pod" system when using the "holster" is that water enters the pod from the top and exits from the bottom, forcing the water through the pod. I never liked any of the "holders' that have screens on the sides, as it allows water to NOT penetrate the entire pod, filter paper, or screen. Mar 12, pods in keurig machine by: Anonymous Works good is you think that costs half the price i use senseo pods Walmart 4.
Jul 30, KiennaKUP option by: Crim2k Kienna brewers have similar pods, and they have a K-Cup adapter that for the most part works extremely well, as long as you follow the directions on the box precisely. If you loosen the pod too much on your way to putting it in the pod adapter, you'll end up just making coffee-flavoured tea.
So far, in about 25 uses, I've brewed 3 bad cups. The rest have been consistent. Oct 22, Pods work by: Gutti Senseo pods are cheaper then K-cup and the perfect pod holder works well with them. Aug 25, Coffee Pods in Keurig by: Anonymous I stayed in a hotel that had single cup pods in the rooms to use with the single cup coffee pots provided. I took two home to try in my Keurig. I simply placed one into my Keurig to see if it would work.
I had no problem brewing a delicious cup of coffee by just tossing the pod in. Given they are half the price of K-Cups, I will be purchasing them to use in my Keurig. On the My K-Cup filter you have to pour the coffee out of the filter paper pods right into the adapter. If you dont you are double filtering and loose the extraction. This might sound like more work, but you have the variety, cost savings and less plastic waste.
May 27, The editor is a nut by: Bennyc If you are going to edit a board like this then at least do the detective work before you say it won't work. I have a "perfect pos holster" it it turns a pod into a K cup and makes a perfect cup of coffee if you use good 55mm pods. Editors Note: That value of a board like this is that readers can fill in the gaps I miss. Others were quick to add comments providing links to the Pod Holster.
It has many positive reviews and a few negative. I'm about to buy one. Perfect Pod Holster. I understand that the pods have to be 55m or greater and I understand that it will not workwith 'discs',Tassimo, etc.
In particular what are 'flat-top' pods and will they work in the 'Perfect Pod Holster' with the Keurig brewer? Thank You. Aug 12, Pods in a Keurig by: Anonymous There is a device called "Perfect Pod Holster" which claims to be able to brew a cup of joe with a 55mm pod.
You place the pod in the holster, holster in the Keurig then brew. I have not tried it. Editor's Note: I don't think that would work. The K-Cup holder is really not the same as a pod holder at all. Totally different design. Before you go, sign up to receive the Coffee Detective Newsletter I am at least 16 years of age. I have read and accept the privacy policy. Apr 09, I think I was ripped off! This was the selling feature for me. I have owned three ….. Love my Tassimo. I have my first one to a friend whose Keurig machine broke and bought a new one for myself. Just wish more people saw through the confusion and realized that Tassimo is the better choice. Tried tassimo for the first time after using Kerrigan for a few years.
Terrible, would never buy one. In Palm Beach area of Florida I could not find tassimo discs. I was told there is not enough demand. Tried Target, Walmart, Publix. Could only buy them in Bed, Bath and Beyond. Huge selection of Keurig k cups at all of these places. The pods for either machine are single use plastics. I just bought a Keurig K I had no idea the coffee was so expensive WOW.
I like the 2. My Tassimo water tank is in the back and really ticks me off when in the middle of a cup, the tank is empty. I drink cups of coffee per day. I love my coffee, dark roast full body with lots of flavour. They are not compostable either!!!!! My new machine gets me two free packages of coffee if I buy two packages. Both aim for convenience and create single-cup servings of drinks. They differ most when it comes to milk-based drinks — Tassimos require two T-discs for those — and when it comes to user control — Keurigs allow users to adjust brewing settings, while Tassimos brew according to T-disc barcodes.
Keurig and Tassimo have agreements with a variety of coffee and drink producers. Sometimes these agreements are exclusive, meaning Keurig and Tassimo do not have all of the same brands.
Keurig boasts that it has over kinds of drinks. Tassimo has a smaller range of drinks and connected brands. This can seem like a good deal for those who desire the convenience of a single-serve coffee maker. However, the ongoing expense of K-cups or T-discs is worth considering. T-discs are similarly expensive. Bulk-buying coffee pods or buying generic K-cup brands can help offset, but not eliminate, this extreme cost difference. For Keurig owners, at least, the high price of K-cups is not likely to change any time soon, as Keurig has recently moved to quash cheaper K-cup competition.
Many report in reviews that Keurig and Tassimo machines last for years. The durability of these machines has varied slightly by model, but both companies generally strive to include high quality parts in their coffee makers.
Tassimo used to offer a longer, two-year warranty compared to Keurig's one-year warranty. However, Tassimo now offers only a day warranty, except in the U. How long either coffee maker lasts will also depend on how well the machine is maintained.
